Keith Holland has been training clients for 14 years, and is considered one of Maryland’s top personal trainers. As one of Maryland’s top personal trainers, he has helped hundreds of clients reach their personal training goals!
Keith has had a passion for sports and fitness his entire life. Pursuing sports and fitness from an early age, it didn’t take long for Keith to understand the critical role that nutrition plays in our everyday lives. Whether you want to build muscle, loose body fat, or train for a specific sport, there is a scientific formula for getting the best results possible. Keith didn’t grow up wanting to be a personal fitness trainer, but tragic events in 2000 ultimately made the decision easy for him. In the spring of 2000, Keith unexpectedly lost his father to a heart attack. Keith never imagined losing his father so soon, and his sudden passing put a lot of things into perspective. In losing his father Keith also lost his best friend, his role model, and the person he aspired to be. It made Keith want to reach out to the community to help educate people on the risks of being overweight. Keith has made it his mission to educate others, so that no one has to lose their family members too soon.
Keith has been a trainer now for 15 years and although he has helped numerous clients drastically change their lives he still doesn’t feel like he has done enough. In an effort to reach more clients and leave a more lasting impact Keith launched Proteus In Home Personal Training. This business has given Keith the platform that he’s always wanted to touch the lives of many more people. January 2009 I was very overweight for my 5’6″ frame. Weighing 204 lbs and wearing a size 18 I knew things had to change. I hired Keith to come to the house 3x per week to work with me not only on fitness but with my diet as well. He has been instrumental to my success, providing encouragement and motivation but NEVER judgment. One year and 2 weeks after starting with Keith I made my weight loss goal of 134 lbs. I dropped from a size 18 to a very slim size 2 and I feel absolutely fantastic. I still work with Keith twice a week and am getting to experience activities such as sky diving, skiing, rock climbing and running in 1/2 marathons; all activities I never would have done when I was heavy. All I can say is THANK YOU Keith, you are AWESOME! – Mary C.
Keith and I have been working out for about 6 months. I am 60 years old and trying to stay in shape. Keith put together an excellent beginning workout for the first 6 weeks to help me build a foundation and then we have been working on getting some mass on a small, ectomorphic frame. He has an excellent knowledge concerning personal training and has been able to tailor programs specifically for me. I have been very happy with the results. Keith is a pleasure to work with. He is always encouraging but knows how to push me as well. The workouts have been varied and right on with my own goals. He has also been quite flexible when my work schedule hasn’t allowed me to follow our set times to meet. I plan to continue working with Keith and can recommend him highly to anyone interested in getting in shape. – Dr. Michael D.
I met Keith Holland almost three years ago. When I first found Keith’s name on Google, I was skeptical that this wouldn’t be different than any gym or personal training experience than I had ever had before. However, after my first conversation with Keith on the phone, I knew this was going to be different. I started working out with Keith two times a week, and immediately started gaining my health back. About six months after I started training, I experienced some medical issues and Keith stuck with me. Over the last two years, I have been through some of the worst medical issues of my life. Most trainers would probably have severed the relationship a long time ago, as I often had to miss workouts, or couldn’t push myself to complete the program we had planned. But, Keith was there every step of the way. Not only did he continue to workout with me, modifying as he could, he was also there offering suggestions and support. He was helping to find potential solutions to the problems I was facing, and often was not far off the mark with his conclusions. He would check in on me via text, and I always knew he was only a phone call away, for advice, support, or just an ear to listen. Keith has truly been an integral part of my treatment team. He is not just a personal trainer, he becomes an integral part of your life and is willing to do anything in his power to help you succeed and meet your goals. I tell Keith all the time that thank you is not enough to encompass what he has done for me. – Jen C.
How do I express my gratitude for having found Keith to help me on my new journey?! After many years of diets (crazy and not so crazy), I realized that my health was affected by the madness. What had to change were my eating habits, outlook on life and non-existent exercise. With just a quick search on the internet, there he was…Keith Holland. With winter (and snow) coming, I knew that going to a gym would not be consistent for me (a Florida gal). The fact that Keith would come to my home to help me change my life, strongly drew me to his services. From the first moment of our consultation, I knew he was prefect for me. I had prayed to meet the man of my dreams, but didn’t expect him to show up as a personal fitness trainer! Boy, the lord has a great sense of humor! LOL With Keith’s knowledge and expertise, I am gaining confidence, mobility, and a better outlook on life. He finds an upbeat workout program for me and I look forward to each session. I feel myself getting stronger everyday and I’m starting to see some results. I have been working with Keith for 3 weeks and plan to continue for a long time. With the challenges of the holiday season, Keith supports my need to understand how to eat and still enjoy social events. Would I recommend Keith…ABSOLUTELY! He is professional, on time, intelligent, pushes me to achieve my goals and has a great sense of humor too! He genuinely cares about what’s going on in my life, as I’m sure he does with all his clients. And to top it off, this has become our journey, not just mine! Do yourself a favor and hire him! He is worth every penny! – Terri B.
Keith comes to my home 2 times a week for in home personal training. Keith is a fantastic trainer! Not only is he very knowledgeable in strength and fitness training, but he is professional, trustworthy and fun to work out with. We’ve been working out for about 8 months, and since starting with Keith my strength and cardiovascular health have improved greatly. I feel stronger, years younger, and I sleep so much better now. I trust him in my home and trust him to design rigorous routines for our twice-weekly workouts. The workouts he designs are fun and always different so my body never gets stuck in a routine. We both enjoy talking about sports and politics as we watch ESPN or Fox & Friends during our morning workouts. When my workouts are over I always have that good “tired” feeling. Keith is my trainer but he has become my friend too. Even my dog thinks he’s the best! If you are considering a trainer, you’ll not only benefit from his workouts, but you’ll enjoy your workouts too. – Steven R.
I have Hashimoto’s Disease. It’s stubborn, elusive, and will break your spirit if you let it. When I told Keith Holland that I wanted to be as strong and healthy as I could be, he made a commitment to not let me fail. When I started working with Keith, I couldn’t move without pain. A walk to the end of the driveway left me breathless, but I wanted to walk a 5K. Over the last year, Keith has steadily and carefully guided me beyond where I thought I could go. One beautiful spring day, about 4 months into our training sessions, he said let’s go for a walk. When we were done, he said, “You did it, you just walked 5K!” That moment changed everything. Keith made me believe. I didn’t know the biggest hurdle was my belief in what I could do, but he did. The right personal trainer is much more than someone who knows the right way to do chest presses, it is someone who listens, adapts and doesn’t let you fail. – Suzanne M.
Keith is extremely professional and polite, which is important when having someone into your home (for me, sometimes at 4:30AM to work around my schedule). He knows what he’s doing, so you start to trust him quickly. Right out of the gates, he embraced my goals and helped me work hard towards achieving them. I’ve already recommended him to friends and clients of mine. Plus, we talk golf all morning which is a must for me! – Greg L.
Keith is saving our lives. Three days per week he is at the door ready to motivate us and get us healthy. Always on time with a planned routine Keith is very flexible and often adapts to our roller-coaster schedule with no complaints. Training with Keith you can tell that he truly cares about his client’s well being. His genuine attitude makes it easy for you to push yourself. Never judgmental and always encouraging, he is quick to explain the reasons why a weigh-in didn’t go as hoped. Using a combination of weight training, cardio, and diet advice, Keith promotes a complete life style change. I appreciate that Keith doesn’t just work the popular muscles but offers exercises that will shape and strengthen all the muscle groups. Keith is always mixing in new exercises as we get stronger and are able to do more, but he takes care to work us out based on our individual needs. Since starting with Keith our weight loss journey has not been about losing weight but building a strong, healthy, well balanced body. Losing body fat and gaining muscle has overtaken our desire to obsess on the scale weight and the results we are seeing are amazing. In just 20 weeks I have lost 45lbs of fat and Mary has lost 32lbs of fat. We are seeing ourselves in the mirror for the first time in a long time. We couldn’t be more pleased! – Scott & Mary C.
Who would have thought I would be back to boxing after 5 or 6 years of not practicing? The workouts we do, the exercises I can do now are a testimony to your knowledge and my own learning. Thank you Proteus In Home Personal Training! As someone who has been inspired to study for certification as a Personal Trainer, I only hope I can be as good of a trainer, fitness resource, and example. – Rev. Linda C.
I hired Keith as a trainer for my son to help him build muscle and become physically stronger to play soccer. I did not know that Keith had experience as a soccer player, so not only was he able to train my son physically, but with his soccer skills as well. Keith went out of his way to meet my son at a gym and a field near our home to train. He also traveled long distances to come to his soccer games and watch him play in order to help him train. He did this all on his own time. He is a fantastic person and quickly became a friend as well as a trainer to my son and I. – Diane R. & Bud
Keith is my In Home Personal Trainer and he is absolutely fantastic. He is motivational but tough, which is exactly what I need. Since I started working out with Keith seven months ago, I’ve seen visibly stronger back and arm muscles, which is tough for a woman. He’s flexible and shows how you can easily work out in your home! – Marguerite H.
I recommend, with pleasure, Personal Trainer Keith Holland with whom I have worked for the past 14 months. I am a retired octogenarian (80-89 years old) having modest activity (twice-a-week tennis) during the winter season, and a dread of working out thereafter. My requisites are – with equal emphasis – flexibility, agility, balance and strength. In addition to addressing these needs, Keith also addresses ad-hoc concerns (e.g., my oscillating out of chair like an old man (I can now arise unaided holding 50 pounds 20 times). In strength, he has turned back the clock more than a dozen years. I can now lift, pull, push and curl significantly more than I did in 2001. My hand is steadier and I enjoy improved tennis without the fear of losing balance on fast movements. Friends and acquaintances frequently remark on my improved appearance. Keith also works with my wife, dramatically improving her muscle tone. Combined with her yoga she is also demonstrably flexible. – Kier & Tina B.
With great reluctance, I allowed my wife to hire Keith for a “few” sessions. That was three months ago. I had fallen off my fitness routine years ago, using work and other obligations as my excuse, but Keith showed up and immediately put me to work. He assessed my level of fitness and motivation and figured out how to approach, challenge, and encourage me. That was three months ago. Since then, I have moved from a traditional cut 17 1/2 shirt to a trim cut 16 1/2 shirt. I definitely feel like I have more energy and am sleeping better at night. My wife is no longer nagging me about my health or my posture, and my adult kids were even unable recognize my silhouette from a distance. Keith is a great motivator, very knowledgeable and cautious about physiology and injury. He keeps it real, telling you what you need to know — not what you want to hear. He truly maximizes our hour so that it’s the most effective and efficient use of my time and money. – Chuck I.
I started working with Keith about 8 months ago. I previously had led a reasonably active lifestyle, but due to some significant health issues over the past several years, I had slipped into a sedentary lifestyle. Working with Keith, I slowly worked my way into a more active lifestyle. Keith shows great patience as I work through a number of “ole age” pains and injuries. I recently saw my doctor and got the results of my latest blood work. Much to my surprise, the results were the best I received in about 10 years. Keith deserves much of the credit for helping me improve my overall health. – Cliff O.
I began looking for a personal trainer after breaking my wrist, having two surgeries, and having limited use of my hand for more than a year. Because of this, I lost most of the strength in my arm and I needed to regain it. I was fortunate enough to select Proteus In Home Personal Trainers and meet Keith, the owner. He genuinely cares about his clients and their overall health. He is always positive, supportive, and encouraging. He truly wants me to succeed. He motivates me to push myself when I need to. He always has a solution or a way to make an exercise possible to accomplish and get the best results. I have increased endurance and strength, which I would never have accomplished on my own. My husband liked the program and quickly joined me after just one month, and then shortly after he joined a friend did also. – Brenda F.
I never would have been able to lose the weight I’ve lost without Keith’s help. Before hiring Keith, my workouts were a waste of my time and energy. They weren’t giving me the results I wanted. I was getting nowhere. Keith’s guidance gave me the information I needed to maximize my workouts. He gave me the tools to monitor my caloric and nutritional intake, so that I’m getting the proper nourishment without putting on the pounds. Keith also gave me the push I needed, and showed me that I could push myself much farther and harder than I realized was possible. I have been steadily losing 3 to 4 pounds per month over the past 8 months. I even went through Thanksgiving without gaining! That hasn’t happened in years!
I truly feel that Keith has given me the tools to do more than just lose some weight. I feel that I have changed the way I view food and exercise. I feel that it’s a life-long change and that I will be healthier and happier as a result. I can’t thank Keith enough! – Karen M.
I hired Keith a few years ago to help me get my life back on track. I was fresh off my divorce and extremely overweight and out of shape. At the time, I worked the night shift but Keith was there bright and early morning when I got off work ready to work me out! He used the weights and equipment I had at my house combined with items he would bring in to get me started. But Keith wasn’t just my trainer. He met me at the gym on the days we weren’t supposed to work out together to get me started on a routine that I could maintain. Any time I’ve have had a question about my fitness Keith has been there for me even after all these years! I still use the methods he taught me as I continue my weight loss and rebuild my life. – Gary E.
I have worked with Keith for many years now. I have had the opportunity to work with other trainers in the past, but Keith is by far been one of the best in the training business. He’s punctual and flexible with his schedule if we need to change days. He likes to research lots of things about health, and share up to-date information with his clients. In addition, on days that you are feeling tired, you are struggling, and you mentally don’t think you can finish… especially that last rep — Keith is there to say you can and encourages you to finish it. Most importantly, if you have an injury, he works around that so that you don’t continue to injure yourself. He even provides stretches and exercises that will help you recover. On a personal note, I have trusted Keith to train my 83-year-old dad and 72-year-old mom. He has helped my dad through knee surgery and heart issues and has helped my mom with hip replacement struggles. In short, he has been stellar, not just for me, but for the rest of my family as well! – Debbie F.
